Relax and Reflect

Web 2.0 is an excellent program for me to explore the different sources that are avialable. I would have prefer to do this as a class and have someone guide me through it so that you had the chance to thoroughly explore it.

Gaming

I do not have fun playing games in the virual world.

Maps and Geotagging

It was interesting to see your home - cool. I was not sucessful with the mapping.

Avartars & Second Life

I guess another life to live :) I have an avartar but I don't have time to hang out in the virtual world.

Online applications

I could only use Google doc and not Zoho. Zoho had more to offer.
I prefer Dogpile because it gave more options.

I listened to Denver Public Library and NPR Fresh Air podcast. I had trouble with listening and searching a specific podcast from the RSS feeds. Podcast is a useful tool for SIL. I think our patrons would be interested in current top recommended books, talking books, media etc. This is my first experience with podcasts.

I did not feel the online image generators was useful.
I liked the concept of downloading books on to my MP3 player and watching movies. I prefer to have a wider selection and avialability than we have. I was pleased to hear I-pods will be added since alot of patrons have requested for this.

Libraries can pool their information resources together through social bookmarkings to assist one another. The smaller libraries (e.g. Sultan) can go to del.icio.us to get information from reference centers (e.g. Snohomish). As for myself, the delicious account will eliminate all the print form and favorites of different websites that I have.

Here is my account.

Wiki

Wiki would be great if I can get my backpacking friends to make the time to check the website. Wiki is interesting in the sense it is a live document with current information in one place.
We can use Wiki for input from patrons about programming feedback such as the timing and types of programs; staff committees, sharing of ideas etc.

YouTube

I had difficulties in bringing up videos that I selected on libraries on YouTube. When I did get one it was very interesting. I was able to watch a TV show on Hulu but I was unsucessful on viewing anything on Fancast. I would use Hulu and recommend the libraries use it to promote our services and programs.

Facebook is interesting. My friend in Thailand and my cousin in Malaysia had invited me as their friends. It was cool to view their photo album of their trips.

Asgaard Pass

I had trouble with the ist option and had to try the second option using my own picture. I wish this is not so time consuming.

Finetunes

It is cool to find out that you have a hugh variety of artists at your finger tips.

RSS Feeds

It is wonderful to get information you just want. I can chose trails I want to hike by checking my e-mail - RSS Feed. The librarians can use it for frequent enquiries they get from patrons.

IM Meebo

I have used IM before. I was surprised by the fact that you can use different IM services together. This is cool because I can chat with both my sisters who live in two different countries and are on MSN and Yahoo. Meebo gives you the experience of conference calling without the cost - Fantastic! :)
